Overview

Thumper is a local-first platform for running open-source AI apps on your own hardware, with optional one-click deployment to third-party cloud compute (Akash). Apps you run locally stay on your device. When you use cloud features, some data is stored on our servers to run, bill, and secure the service.

What's Encrypted — and What Isn't

We are not a zero-knowledge service and do not currently guarantee private end-to-end encryption for sync or deployment workflows. Operational data — including account, billing, cloud deployment configuration, synced app state, and enabled analytics — may be processed by our servers because it is needed to run deployments, bill accurately, and meet legal obligations. Supported connections use encrypted transport.

Data We Collect

  • Account info — email, display name, authentication credentials (managed by our OIDC provider, Rauthy).
  • Cloud deployments — your deployment configuration (SDL), endpoints, cost and status. Your deployment spec is sent to the Akash provider you select to run your app.
  • Billing data — handled by Stripe; we store only Stripe customer/subscription/transaction IDs, never card numbers.
  • Usage analytics — aggregated usage statistics. Opt-out in Settings; it takes effect immediately.

Data We Never Collect

  • Your local AI-generated content (images, audio, text)
  • Your AI model weights run locally
  • Local app data that you do not submit to a sync or cloud workflow
  • Your cryptographic keys or seed phrases

Cloud Compute (Akash)

Cloud deployment is optional. When you launch a cloud app, your deployment spec (and any logs it produces) is visible to the third-party Akash provider you choose to run it. We do not retain or train on your data.

Your Rights

You can export your data and delete your account at any time from Settings (self-service erasure: your account is tombstoned, personal data scrubbed, private and synced data purged, and sessions revoked across devices). Financial and safety/legal records are retained per legal minimums.
